Dr. Ragheb emphasized that falsifying history is the result for ordeals afflicted Muslims over the past. He defined many reason why history is a very important for the Muslim nation.
Dr. Ragheb added that many may benefit from falsifying history. For example, Shiite falsified the Sunni history of the Umayyad and the Abbassid dynasty.
Dr. Ragheb indicated that the falsifiers of the Islamic history have many motives, of the most important is the momentous importance of history itself and for Muslims. Also, history unveils the established rules set by Allah that is the factors of victory and defeat for nations.
Dr. Ragheb indicated during a speech he delivered in a series titled " The crime of falsifying history" weekly delivered in Ar-Rawas mosque that such rules are proven plainly in the authentic real stories unlike to the falsified ones. He added that the scholars must be assured of the authenticity of speeches and orations they deliver.
Dr. Ragheb stated:" when I came to verify the authenticity of Hadiths cited in book "Tarikh At-Tabari" on battle of Siffin, it came out that 99 narrations out of 113 were falsified, while some of the remaining were to be authentic and others Dha`if (a Hadith that fails to reach the status of Hasan, due to a weakness in the chain of narration or one of the narrators).
Dr. Ragheb revealed the fact that falsifiying history involves discrediting the Islamic prominent figures. For example, Khaled ibn Al-Waled and `Amr ibn Al-`Ass fell a victim to discredit due to their efforts in spreading Islam. As well, the Umayyad, Abbassid, Ottoman dynasty and others experienced the same for their powerful grip on the foes of Islam.
Regarding the current crisis Muslims face, Dr. Ragheb declared that studying the authentic history is the way out for the Muslim nation as it is replete with the established rules of Allah unveiling the reasons leading to victory for nations. Definetely, ranks authentically first in these stories are those cited in the Book of Allah, the glorious Quran, and then those cited in the biography of the prophet Muhammad who are authentic by way of chain of narrators and the text of the Hadith.
Dr. Ragheb added that history is very important as it adds more ages to humans and adds more experiences to their experiences. Accordingly, the Muslim Nation, especially the rulers and decision-makers, are at the present required to profoundly and deliberately study history.
Dr. Ragheb added that the significance of studying history also lies in the advantage it presents to Muslims that it helps them comprehend the teachings of Islam, especially they are plainly grasped in the light of stories cited in the biography of the prophet Muhammad in As-Sirah An-Nabawyah.

Dr. Ragheb concluded his speech stating that history is a boundless treasure and called upon Muslims to build a dignified history and civilization through studying history.
