Short Description
Abu Jahl acknowledged that Muhammad (PBUH) never told a lie, but his reaction was on the contrary to that? What was his justification?.jpg)
Al-Miswar ibn Makhramah [May Allâh be pleased with him] asked his maternal uncle, Abu Jahl, about the reality of Muhammad [peace be upon him] saying: “O uncle! Have you accused Muhammad of telling lies before he pretended what he had pretended (of Prophethood)?”
He said: “O son of my sister! By Allâh, since his early youth, Muhammad was called among us the trustworthy and we have never known him to tell a lie.” He asked: “Then, why do you not follow him?” He said: “O son of my sister! We (i.e. Banu ‘Abd Shams) and Banu Hâshim competed over honor: they fed the poor and we did too; they supplied the pilgrims with water and we did too; and they gave the right of protection (to refugees) and we did too (and so on) until we became almost equal just like two race horses. Then they said: “A Prophet has appeared from among us.” How should we attain the like of this?”
On the day of the battle of Badr, al-Akhnas ibn Shurayq said to Abu Jahl: “O Abul-Hakam! Tell me about Muhammad, whether he is truthful or a liar. However, there is none from the Quraysh men to hear our speech other than you and I.” Abu Jahl said: “Woe to you! Verily, Muhammad is truthful and he has never told a lie. But even, should the offspring of Qusayy take away Liwa’[1], Hijâbah[2], Siqâyah[3]and Prophethood, what will be left for the rest of the Quraysh?”[4]
