The first step in rebuilding a powerful Muslim Ummah is to be positive.
The prophet taught us how to feel as a group not as individuals, and how to feel the pains of others.
The good deeds can be divided into two parts:
1- A part in which the reward will benefit the believer alone, with no benefit to the others.
2- The other part in which the good deed will benefit you and others, like paying charity and helping others.
Umar ibn Al-Khattab used to take care of orphans of Medina by himself when he was a caliph.
To increase the feeling of sweetness of helping others, and the feeling of the one group, Allah obligated on us some actions that teach us this feeling, Allah says (we have given you Al-Kawthar, so pray for Allah, and slaughter your sacrifice…)
If Allah granted you a favor, you should not only worship Him as thanking, but you should also sacrifice something to help other. This is the same idea in sacrifice in the Adha feast. You give one third to the poor.
Most of the expiations are helpful to others, for example, the expiation of the wrong oath is to feed ten poor people, clothe them, or free a slave, however, if you are unable to afford one of the three, you may fast for three days.
The Prophet said: (Allah kept some of the favors with some people as long as they are in the service of Muslims. If they got bored of helping the Muslims, Allah will transfer these favors to others), related by At-Tabarani.
For example: knowledge, money, time, etc.
